Great Women of History

Bloggers, please submit the names of women whom you think influenced history and/or women in a positive way. This is for a dramatic presentation and cannot be a living person, else, I'd suggest the names of my Muses. I would prefer that the list be American women who would be good role models for the generation which will replace us. Thank you!

What a great call out!

I could think of dozens and dozens...

My first submission: Subcomandante Ramona, who death came much too soon.

Thank you, Ms Liberty. I agree with her in that there must be better prenatal care for mothers and that children should have a healthful way to begin life.

I haven't blogged about it, but four days ago I attended a funeral for a seven month old boy who died in womb.

If we are a society that respects and values life and believes that life begins within the womb, then we MUST also consider safe, affordable prenatal care a RIGHT.

I am so sorry for the loss of this life, even before it had the chance to flourish.

Thank you, ae. Personally, I have more admiration for those who take risk and don't have the safety net of money or family.

The presentation is a project my mother is doing for her local women's club.

What can one say about a funeral of this type?

Ms Liberty, until the untimely funeral, I didn't understand how important prenat care is.

In the fifties the dangers weren't known; I was the second pregnancy and my father is Rh +.

There is no limit. My mother mentioned the project so I volunteered to ask the better informed bloggers. Thanks all!

Then I humbly also nominate Lucy Parsons! What a woman!

Oh, and please, please post on how the event goes!

Ms Liberty, it is always a pleasure to consider another candidate! You, ae, and the others have opened my eyes to heroes I did not know existed. All the names will be in the subject pool, and when my mother writes the presentation it will be posted here. Thanks again!

Thank you, Catherine! These names are welcomed as candidates for the presentation. I've often wondered how much Watson and Crick owe the scientists who helped pave the way.
