Tuesday's Word: spontaneous combustion
spontaneous combustion: Ignition of a substance, such as oily rags or hay, caused by a localized heat-increasing reaction between the oxidant and the fuel and not involving addition of heat from an outside source.*
This week's Word comes as a request of favored writer Elizabeth McClung. Be certain to get a copy of Zed, (it's great!), and to make space for her next novel, Control Room.
One suspects that straw has nothing to do with the Poet Laureate's word choice, but we'll wait, smoldering, until she elaborates!

we have finally cooled off out here in CA. thank god. other wise, i might have spontaneously combusted at the grand prix over the weekend.
I thought you were going to leave the risking of heat stroke to the pros!
oh, i am a pro, dear... :)
One of my friends exhibited signs and symptoms of heat stroke last week. He was here and so could be helped. If you drop at the race, what am I gonna do?
not to worry, david... i survived the heat, the 3 story climb that i had to make 18 times a day, crossing the track 4 times, driving paul newman/george clooney/frankie muniz in a golf cart, team aussie, a crash on lap 52, a driver fight in the pits and 6 double tequila shots on an empty stomach (but just barely on the tequila).
Oh, Diva LOVES Paul Newman and George Clooney.
paul newman looks like he is 247 years old. george clooney smells yummy. :) and frankie muniz looks like he is 12.
I don't look my age and I smell yummy!
Despite a youthful look and a yummy smell, I must be looking in the wrong places!
Ka-boom! I would like to say that my family has a long tradition of spontaneous combustion but it is sadly not true - I do like the idea of going out with a perplexing instantanous "woosh!"
david, i haven't seen what you look like and my computer doesn't have smellovision so.... :(
